Veterinary Compounding

The practice of pharmacy compounding is becoming a popular solution to veterinary problems. Delivering medication to any animal is a difficult task.

We will work with the vet and pet owner to come up with a workable solution. This may be a specially flavored medication for a dog, such as masking a bitter tasting drug in a liver flavoredImage Hosted by ImageShack.us dog treat.  Or a tuna flavored treat for a cat. What may work may be a different dosage form, in some cases a trans dermal or topical gel can be applied to the cats ear to transport medication.

From time to time a manufacturer will discontinue a medication used in veterinary applications. When that medication has worked well for your animal, our compounding pharmacist may be able to prepare a prescription for the discontinued product at a dosage strength and form appropriate for your pet's specific need. We specialize in a “horse cookie” which medication such as ivermectin or omeprazole can be mixed into for easy administration for your horse.

A caring veterinarian working closely with our compounding pharmacist can result in the improved health and happiness of your pet.
